Blitz Games Studios’ licensable middleware, BlitzTech, now features full functionality for Kinect for Xbox360 and Move for PlayStation 3

BlitzTech has announced that its industry leading middleware and game development tools now include full functionality for Kinect for Xbox 360 and Move for PlayStation 3.

Blitz Games Studios is currently working on a number of motion control titles, many of which are yet to be announced. Currently unveiled games include ‘movie karaoke’ title Yoostar2 and personal fitness training game The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout. Both games are from Blitz’s family games division Blitz Games.

“Our in-house technology team has always thrived on a challenge. The amazing variety of Kinect and Move titles that we’ve signed up over the last year has enabled us to really experiment with the capabilities of these new devices,” said Richard Hackett, Blitz Games Studios’ Technical Director. “We’re incredibly excited about the potential of both systems and we’ve already received some great feedback on our work so far.”

Yoostar2, to be published by Yoostar Entertainment, is a ‘movie karaoke’ game that allows players to step into a classic Hollywood movie and become the star. Yoostar2 includes 60 iconic movies scenes from top Hollywood studios and scores the player’s performance all the way from ‘struggling actor’ to ‘superstar’! Yoostar2 is coming soon to Kinect for Xbox 360, PlayStation Move System and PlayStation Eye.

The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout, to be published by THQ Inc. and licensed by NBC Universal Television Consumer Products group and Reveille LLC, is the latest game in “The Biggest Loser” franchise and has seen BlitzTech building on the solid foundations of the provided Kinect tools by adding a variety of bespoke code that enables accurate body detection for over 100 exercises, including floor-based movements, such as push-ups and the plank.

“The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout for Kinect is nothing short of phenomenal. It’s challenging, fun, engaging, and will truly put the user on track to a healthy lifestyle. You can’t help but get results while having a blast,” said Kim Niemi, Senior Vice President, NBC Universal Television Consumer Products Group.

In addition to a high-energy, fun workout, the technology behind the Kinect for Xbox 360 ensures an intense full-body workout. Adds Aaron Miller, Project Director for The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout: “After the success of our first ‘Biggest Loser’ games we had a lot of ideas for new features that we could implement in the follow-up version. The Kinect in particular has enabled us to inject a level of accuracy that genuinely moves this into the territory of being a genuine personal trainer that can deliver, and monitor, real results.”

One Response to “Blitz Games Studios’ licensable middleware, BlitzTech, now features full functionality for Kinect for Xbox360 and Move for PlayStation 3”

  1. I finally had a chance to play Kinect. However it felt really strange to be playing games
which required physical exertion like bowling with visual feedback but no physical feedback to your hands.
I liked 10 Pin Bowling so I tried that option in the Kinect Sports game.
While there were interesting tricks like glowing arrows on the bowling alley to show where the
ball was going to go and the ball trajectory on screen impressively spun in the direction my wrist moved,
it felt very strange not to have the weight of a physical bowling ball in my hand. It’s more getting used to playing
I guess, because I still had fun. Ended up pre-ordering the bundle package from
so it’s just a waiting game, and i’m not the most patient person hehe. It usually takes what? A year for the good games
to start coming out, so hopefully I won’t regret my purchase.
